Introducing Raymond Herndon: Math, Music, Computer Science Teacher

We are excited to welcome Raymond Herndon to the School for Advanced Studies!

Raymond’s journey in education spans working with preschoolers to high school students. He has taught a wide array of subjects including algebra, geometry, general and exploratory science, web design, game design, art, music, chess, and coached a variety of sports. With his interest in music, Raymond produced and hosted several ‘Battle of the Bands’ events across multiple school districts.

Raymond’s educational journey mirrors the diversity of his teaching career. Originally embarking on a path in music education, Raymond later transitioned to computer science before finding his passion in mathematics education. He earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Western Governors University, underlining his belief that education is an ongoing pursuit—a sentiment he strives to instill in his students.

Outside of academia, Raymond pursues a diverse array of interests, including woodworking, playing guitar, gardening, and exploring other pursuits.

Raymond is an experienced educator who brings a wealth of diverse teaching experience to his role at the School for Advanced Studies – Northwest Arkansas. With over nine years of residence in various parts of NWA, Raymond resides with his wife and three children here who all enjoy hiking and biking.

Raymond will be primarily teaching Math, Computer Science.
